Q. Is parking available, and
do we validate parking?
A. There is an adjacent parking
garage, and on-street parking
is also available nearby. Unfortunately
we are unable to validate parking.
Q. Will my health insurance
cover my visit?
A. Our physicians belong to
most health insurance plans,
and we accept payment by those
insurance plans. However, coverage
varies widely from plan to
plan, and it is therefore best
if you contact your own insurance
company prior to your appointment
to verify your benefits.
Q.
Can I bring in the results
of prior lab work so they don’t
have to be repeated at my appointment
at Men’s Health Boston?
A. Please bring whatever test
results you may have to your
appointment, as well as any
notes from other physicians.
Operative notes may also be
helpful if they are relevant
to your condition. We will
do our best to minimize any
testing, however, in many cases
it is necessary to obtain additional
lab tests, depending on the
situation.
Q. How will I be informed
of my test results?
A. For most new patients, test
results will be discussed at
a follow-up office visit. For
men seen on a routine basis,
eg, for a yearly follow-up,
results will be sent by mail
within two weeks.
Q. How do I obtain a refill
on my prescription?
A. Please allow 2 business
days for prescription refills
to be processed. We will not
refill a prescription if you
have not been seen by the physician
for over one year.
Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. Sorry, we do not at this
time.
Q. Will I be seen on time
for my appointment?
A. We know your time is valuable,
and we do our very best to
ensure that your scheduled
appointment time is honored.
However, medical care does
occasionally involve taking
care of emergencies, and this
requires prioritizing care
and time based on need. In
order to make your visit with
us less stressful, we recommend
that you bring something to
read, and avoid scheduling
other appointments too closely
together.
Q. What if I change insurance
companies?
A. Please inform us of the
insurance company and policy
number prior to your appointment.
Q. Do you see patients for
second opinions?
A. We are happy to provide
second opinions.
Q.
Is it possible to have a semen
analysis performed
at Men’s Health Boston?
A. The
Andrology Lab at Men’s
Health Boston performs semen
analyses, and can also perform
additional sophisticated tests.
All tests must be scheduled
by calling our office at 617-277-5000.
The sample can be produced
at home and brought into the
lab at a scheduled time, or
can be produced in privacy
at our office. If brought in
from home, the sample must
be collected in a sterile container
(usually a specimen cup usually
used for urine samples) and
brought to the laboratory within
one hour. This lab test is
only provided to current Men’s
Health Boston patients.
Q. How long do I need to abstain
from sexual activity prior
to providing a semen sample
for analysis?
A. Reliable results require
an abstinence period of 2-3
days.
Q. Can I have a vasectomy
performed the same day as my
initial office visit?
A. In
most cases, we recommend an
initial consultation on
a day prior to the scheduled
vasectomy. However, for men
traveling to Men’s Health
Boston from a great distance,
we will do our best to accommodate
you.
Q. Do I need a companion to
come with me to my appointment
or procedure?
A. It is not strictly necessary
to have anyone join you for
routine appointments. However,
we always encourage the participation
of partners. For procedures
involving the use of any sedatives
or narcotic medications, it
is necessary to have a companion
with you.
Q.
How do I get a copy of my
medical records from Men’s
Health Boston?
A. Medical records from our
office can be obtained through
a signed, written request that
can be mailed or faxed to the
office. Patients should include
name, date of birth, and address
of where records are to be
sent. There is a $20 fee for
this service, to be paid at
the time of the request. Large
records may require a fee of
$40.
